The Communication Technology program at Aldershot emphasizes the importance and development of digital media skills, creative thinking and problem solving skills, project management and collaboration skills, and media literacy. Students utilize industry level software to complete projects that span from graphic design to video editing to web design while developing their ability to collaborate on multi-faceted projects.

Visual Arts builds on the skills and principles students have learned in elementary programs and refines their use of the creative process when creating and presenting two-and three-dimensional art works. Students explore various art mediums and become familiar with the elements and principles of design by using a range of media, processes, techniques, and styles. New in 2023/2024 is the Photography Course! Students will learn the basics of working with a camera, as well as all that goes into getting the perfect shot, and how to polish their photos with software.

Music at Aldershot offers opportunities for all students. From Concert band, and Jazz band, to Music production there is a way for students to make music. Students in Music will compose their own music, analyze several genres of music, and of course play music. New in 2023/2024 is the Music and Computers course! Music and Computers focuses on the ever growing Music Production field, and prepares students of all experience levels how to create the next top 10 hit! Students will learn to produce, mix, write, and publish their own music using industry standard software.

In Drama, students explore how acting, producing, and directing can influence an audience’s ideas and emotions. Students will learn dramatic techniques from Plays, Film, TV, and learn how a project goes from an idea to something audiences see. As part of the SHSM Students can apply what they have learned to become on camera talent for several SHSM specific projects including Morning Announcements, Short Films, and so much more.

As part of a mandatory 2-period co-op, students will get relevant and real-world experience in the field they are hoping to pursue after high school. With great co-operative education teachers, students will get the opportunity to apply their in-class learning into a professional environment and see which pathway is right for them.
